Welcome to Grindict. Grindict is a focused vocabulary platform that uses spaced repetition so you can remember words and example sentences naturally and for the long term.

This guide explains how to use the service in the Learner area.

Account and settings

Register and activate an account

Open the Learner area on the system.
Enter an email address and a password to create a new account.
Check your email and open the verification link the system sends automatically to finish activation.

Change the interface and personal settings

Change the dictionary you are learning by using the dictionary list in the left navigation bar.
Switch between light and dark by selecting the moon or sun icon in the footer, according to how you prefer to use the interface.
Change the display language, including Vietnamese, English, or Chinese, in account settings.
Change the input mode on the practice screen, including no typing, word only, sentence only, or both, through the keyboard Input button on the practice page or in account settings.

Look up vocabulary

Open Lookup in the navigation menu.
Type the word you want into the search box. The system matches both spelling and pronunciation.
View the word in detail, including part of speech, pronunciation, audio by selecting the headphone icon, Vietnamese senses, the definition, and example sentences.
If the word you looked up is not in the system yet, select Suggest a new word at the end of the results and send the suggestion to the editors.

Spaced-repetition practice

This is the core feature that helps you strengthen and remember vocabulary on a scientific schedule.

How to practice one card

The card screen shows the word and an example sentence.
To check an answer, type the word or sentence into the matching box, then press the enter key or the send icon. A full match plays a response sound and turns the box green.
Show or hide the answer with the eye icon on each block, or with the global Show or hide control, when you cannot recall it.
Rate yourself with two choices. Remember raises mastery and automatically pushes the next review further out. Forget lowers mastery so the system schedules the word again sooner.
After you rate the card, select Next to move to the following card.

Practice filter

Select Filter on the practice screen to choose what to review.
Practiced meanings lets you review every word in the current dictionary that is due or overdue.
A specific collection lets you practice one personal collection or one linked system collection.

Manage collections

To manage personal collections, open Collections and select Create to make a collection of your own for personal study.
To add a word to a collection, open a meaning and select Link collection, then choose the collections you own.
To use system collections, open System, browse the topic sets prepared by Grindict, and link the ones you want.

Statistics and timeline

Statistics shows an overview: meanings in practice, average mastery, the remember-or-forget rate, and a chart of vocabulary levels.
Timeline shows how many practice sessions you completed in the past and how many words fall due in the future, by day, week, month, or year.
Review lists the meanings you forget most often, those marked forgotten on the two most recent practice sessions, so you can study them again.

Vocabulary games

Open Games from the main menu to play short quizzes that are both entertaining and useful for vocabulary reflexes.
The vocabulary in a game can be limited to words you have practiced or to a specific collection.

Upgrade membership

View plan information from the link under the account name in the left menu: Upgrade on the standard plan, Details on the premium plan. Both open the plan comparison page.
The premium tier does not limit usage. Usage on the standard tier follows the policy published on the platform and may change.
To subscribe to the premium tier, select Premium and follow the instructions on the payment page. The premium tier takes effect when payment is complete.
Refunds follow the time limit and the process published on the payment page. The company refunds 100% of the amount actually received.
